LMCF stands for Le Moins Cher en Formation ("the cheapest in training"). This training organization started locally, in the South of France, with a small budget and a limited experience, and needed an extranet to manage the training sessions and participants.
The brief specified that the app must be practical and very simple to use, given the operators would have a limited knowledge of computers and would be on the phone with the costumer while using the app.
The extranet evolved as fast as the company, which has grown from a 250 K€ annual turnover, to 2.5 M€ and a national coverage in two years. The extranet is now the backbone of the activity of the company; it also feeds several websites and partner applications with training sessions.
1. A web app focused on usability and productivity.
The versatile search engine, available on the home page, allows users to look for records as various as customers, internal messages, or training sessions from a single and intuitive interface.
2. Complex processes have been split into task-flow diagrams.
Behind the apparent simplicity is a lot of engineering. For diagrams and quick wireframing, I generally use Evolus Pencil. For hi-fidelity mock-ups and prototyping, my preference goes to Macaw, which is a tremendous tool able to convert the design into usable HTML and CSS in one click.
3. Also available for tablets.
It was a requisite to make the extranet usable on mobile devices, especially for trainers and salespersons. Responsive design was the answer.
